Welcome from Bob & Christine Gilliver. We are so glad you have discovered our little website for our special place, Talinga Farm. The history of this farm, and its original buildings takes us back to 1852, when John Paterson paid 80 Pounds to acquire the original Land Grant.

Today it is our home, where we have lived since 1997, originally with Christine's sister Madeline and her husband Gordon Fletcher. Sadly, in 2020 Gordon passed away, and Madeline now lives here with us.

We treasure the privilege of being custodians of such an historic property, and always love the opportunity to host significant family events and welcome visitors.

The broader property, encompassing the outstation, is about 80 acres. These days most of that land is cropped every year. The homestead, whose earliest rooms date back to the 1850s, sits nestled amongst the gum trees in the extreme south-west corner.

As we are constantly reminded, we live in the driest State in the driest continent in the world, but it doesn't stop us trying to build up and maintain the Talinga gardens. It's certainly a constant battle, but the rewards are worth the effort.

This website gives you an insight into Talinga, our family and family events. Here you will find various documents and books we have written, about not just the history of Talinga, but also our family history dating back to the 17th century.

In 2025 we are excited to welcome the addition of the Talinga Outstation, a magnificent new house being built in the north west corner amongst the remnants of the original Talinga Lavender farm. Our eldest daughter Emily, her husband Paul, and their children will live at the outstation.
